Lava from Hawaii's Kilauea volcano oozed over a seaside cliff on Nov. 24, sending up plumes of steam from the Pacific ocean. The lava had drained from rift vents along the eastern flank of Pu'u O'o crater in rivers of slow-moving molten rock, called pahoehoe.
A documentary crew working with Paradise Helicopters in Hawaii flew over the viscous lava fall and filmed the creation of the 20-foot-tall steaming towers of newly formed rock. via OurAmazingPlanet
