Avalanche in Nepal:
An avalanche at 4 a.m. on Mount Manaslu, the world’s eighth-highest peak, has killed at least nine hikers. The avalanche hit the campsite, located on a peak 22,960 feet high, while more than two dozen climbers were still sleeping in their tents. Rescue operations, involving four helicopters as well as guides on foot, are continuing to search for survivors. At least six hikers are still missing.
