Federal and state tax credits in Oklahoma pushed down the cost of a Kandi Coco electric vehicle from $10,600 to $865. The deal is only good until December 31, though, when those credits expire. The company's main U.S. office is in Tulsa and the vehicles are manufactured in China.
I want to be supportive of EVs, but residents need to know that this vehicle is sort of like--how should I put it?--a glorified golf cart. Yes, that's it. The Coco tops out at 25 miles per hour so it's only legal on roads with speed limits under 35 miles per hour. The vehicle charges in around six hours, gets up to 60 miles per gallon charge, comes in four different colors, has basic radio and an optional enclosure to make it "weather resistant." If you're an Oklahoman who has been salivating over golf carts this year, you might be in for a holiday treat.
