As the SEMA show in Las Vegas runs its course all eyes now turn to the LA Auto Show as the next world stage for the automotive industry and Subaru is wasting no time in capitalizing on the buildup as they have released the first official images of the next-generation Forester CUV.
This is the fourth-generation for the nameplate and the 2014 will feature a new face, bolder profile and roomier interior. The five-seater will be powered by a pair of four-cylinder engine choices including a new 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged Boxer generating 250hp and 258 lb. ft. of torque. It will ride on 18-inch wheels and tires while vehicles paired with the base 170hp 2.5-liter Boxer will see 17-inch running gear.
As with all Subaru utes, the new Forester will of course be outfitted with Symmetrical AWD as standard and gearboxes will be six-speed manual or of the CVT variety with a new high-torque version backing the new aforementioned turbo Boxer and it will offer six- and eight-speed manual modes with Hill Descent Control.
Forester’s suspension system gets an upgrade as well and is said to deliver “agile handling and a highly compliant ride quality” while still offering some 8.7 inches of ground clearance.
Highlighting interior enhancements is additional rearseat legroom and an enlarged cargo area.
Pricing and availability information is not mentioned but Subaru will most likely save this for the LA debut of the 2014 Forester later this month.
