Smart has released sketches of its new for-us pick-up truck concept ahead of its official debut in Detroit next month.
The electric-powered two-seater for-us concept is described as the perfect car for the young and young at heart with active lives that also place an importance on a greener lifestyle.
Smart CEO Dr. Annette Winkler says “We at smart love pick-ups – if they are small on the outside, large on the inside, very safe and extremely comfortable. With the smart for-us a petrol station is no longer required! And a storage area for the ebike is always available on board.”
The for-us concept has room for two people and space for two Smart E-bikes behind them. A docking station in the cargo area makes sure that the bikes are always fully charged. The concept is powered by the same electric drivetrain that recently debuted on the Smart ForTwo electric drive, which will be launched in the spring. The electric motor packs 74 horsepower and 96 lb-ft. of torque. The for-us gets an exterior that draws styling cues from the Smart for-vision concept and ForSpeed concepts.
Smart has made no official decisions if a production version of the for-us concept will be produced.
