Christmas is only two days away and Ford is getting in the spirit of the holidays with a new concept sleigh that is inspired by Ford’s Evos concept. Apparently Ford feels that Santa Claus’ sleigh needs a new eco-friendly approach, so Ford has done away with the reindeer power and instead powered the sleigh with its new EcoBoost 1.0L three-cylinder engine.
According to Ford designer Paul Wraith, “They may look cute, but Santa’s team of nine reindeer create a staggering 214,670 tons of CO2 equivalent emissions each year, so something had to be done to help him re-discover his greener roots.”
Ford also claims that the switch to mechanical horsepower will also save Santa Claus money, since his fuel costs would be reduced by 90 percent.
Santa did not comment on the Ford concept, but Mrs Claus stated, “I am not looking forward to telling Donner and Blitzen the news, but the polar bears in the North Pole will certainly welcome the Ford EcoBoost-powered sleigh.”
She also stated, “l would of course back anything that means my husband can get home that bit quicker. Getting presents in a shorter amount of time to all the good children each year may even give him time to reconsider a few names on the naughty list. But I can’t promise.”
Happy Holidays!
