The concept of the folding bike is pretty well established, but a folding car is something totally new. The Hiriko is a 100% electric “microcar” that’s about the size of a Smart Car – until it folds up for parking. In compact mode, it measures just five feet long- small enough to fit three in one parking spot. The car is based on a 2007 MIT project called the “CityCar,” but Hiriko has made the concept into a reality. Next year, production will begin and these unique rides will make their debut on the road.
