“I think we’re in an age now where perfection is so tantamount to success,” artist John Findra says, “that perfection almost becomes boring.” His answer to this modern dilemma: Creating timeless models of cars that have been abandoned, neglected, and allowed to decompose.
“When you take a car and put it out in nature,” he continues, “nature now creates its own perfection.” The result is something more organic—and in many ways more beautiful—than the highly polished original. Findra’s models capture this transformation but the do something more: They begin to tell the story of what happened to these vehicles after they were parked and forgotten.
