For starters the 2013 SLS AMG GT is powered by a 6.2L V8 that generates 583 horsepower, 20 more than before. It’s final torque output of 479 lb-ft. remains the same as the outgoing model. The V8 is mated to a seven-speed transmission that gets newly developed gear change logic and optimized transmission control to shorten the reaction time significantly during shifts. The transmission also features a manual mode. Due to a modified engine mapping profile that changes the engine torque delivered in manual mode, the shift procedure is even quicker than before. The 2013 SLS AMG GT reaches 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds and has a top speed that is electronically limited to 197 mph.

Thanks to its enhanced driving dynamics the 2013 SLS AMG GT has faster track times than the outgoing SLS AMG.
