Romney Takes On Big Bird:

During last night's debate, GOP candidate Mitt Romney turned to debate moderator Jim Lehrer of PBS, and said “I’m sorry, Jim, I’m gonna stop the subsidy to PBS… I like PBS. I love Big Bird. I actually like you, too.”

Within moments a new Twitter handle @BigBirdRomney emerged with at first a dejected tone to the tweets that then turned defiant. “I wonder if birds go to heaven. ‘Sigh.’” the account tweeted, showing a forlorn image of the fluffy yellow Sesame Street character for a bio. Then later: “How can Mitt #Romney cut Big Bird if #PBS is supported BY VIEWERS LIKE YOU. #BOOM. #BIGBIRDISBACK.”

The background image for the account holder is a Big Bird rendition of the Shepard Fairey "HOPE" poster for Barack Obama. Other notable tweets:
