Cormorants have an interesting, and rarely observed, method of gathering food. They swim. The cormorant is a sea bird, and unlike some shallow-diving birds, the cormorant will sit on the surface briefly and dive to the ocean floor. Once there, the bird will hunt for prey. If the cormorant is successful it will pull its catch to the surface and feast.
These Argentine scientists were able to strap a camera on a cormorant and observe this rare behavior firsthand!
The footage is a bit shaky, but fascinating. video via YouTube
