Today Mark Fraser shows us the collared peccary, an animal you might not be familiar with yet. Mark tells me it's also called the "Javilina," pronounced Have-ah-Leena.
Mark adds, "They are amazing animals that currently live in the American Southwest. Its not a pig, although its snout and hooves are unmistakeably similar. It's a hardy desert survivor, and an amazing species to admire."
Did you know?
- The peccary can weight up to 65 pounds.
- They are capable of running up to 25 miles per hour.
