This weekend I was at Punkin' Chunkin' watching as teams competed to see who could shoot, throw or spin a gourd the farthest. The winners will be announced when it airs on the Science Channel on Thanksgiving, but for now this is an exposé on my favorite category, the centrifugals.
These machines strap a pumpkin to the end of a long arm and propel the arm like a deadly windmill to toss their orange and green passenger as far as they possibly can. You can see video I took last weekend of the "Bad to the Bone," on the Discovery News tumblr.
How do these mad machines work? The video explains it all. via Science Channel
