Getting up on water-skis requires a precise sense of body positioning, balance and strength. Once skiers master those skills, they often start looking for new challenges, such as carving turns, jumping wakes and doing tricks.

A water-skiing club in Australia found an even bigger feat to surmount. Side-by-side, 154 water-skiers cruised behind a single boat for an entire nautical mile. Nine skiers fell along the way, according to TODAY. But the team still managed to beat the previous record of 114 people water-skiing in a line over the same distance.
Approval by Guinness World Records is still pending.
