Instead of just grabbing a standard guidebook or googling for the best places to visit in the area you’re interested in, this social travel app could come in handy when planning your next trip.

Gogobot, for the iPad and iPhone, recommends destinations, hotels, restaurants, and things to do based on reviews of places from people in your social networks, and uses check-ins from your Facebook and Foursquare friends to give you a personalized experience while planning your travels.

Users can browse over 60,000 destinations with Gogobot, and then get the inside scoop on those places from friends and social connections. Get the details, including a map and the address and phone numbers, as well as travel tips from people who’ve been there.

The app also allows you to plan and map a trip, and when you’re out on the road, you can then use the app to write reviews of the places you visit. Gogobot makes it easy to create digital photo postcards of the sights you see, and then share them via Twitter and Facebook.

Gogobot is free at the iTunes App Store.
