A group of campers on Mount Rainier got a frightening surprise last week when they woke to find a helicopter hovering over them. It was clear the pilot was trying to tell them something, but the noise of the rotors drowned out the loudspeaker. Finally, he got his message across- by writing it on a coffee cup and throwing it down to them. It read: ”A ranger has been shot shooter at large. Call on cell if able to Pierce Co Sheriff.”
The helicopter was part of a massive manhunt for Benjamin Colton Barnes, who had fatally shot a park ranger and was at large in the park.
