There are a lot of ridiculous sports out there and this is not one of them. This sport is badass.
Watch a race between three flying paragliders, as they motor through the countryside around the French Alps. Paragliding has been around since the early 90s. Participants control the speed of the fan attached to their backs, as well as the control surfaces of the parachute. Using these rigs, paragliders can perform tricks, tight turns and even fly 24,000 feet above the ground.
According to Parabatix, "The sky racer pilots fly just meters above the ground at speeds of up to 70km/h as they skim, soar and perform tricks with incredible daring accuracy to an amazed crowd."
It looks like a fantastic way to spend a morning in the Alps. I'll have to start saving my money. via Flixxy
