It's a Bike Race, It's an Obstacle Course, It's a Party: The Urban Assault Ride

So dodging car doors, blind drivers, and jaywalking pedestrians on your bicycle just isn’t enough of a challenge for you anymore? Perhaps you need to prepare for an urban assault.

So dodging car doors, blind drivers, and jaywalking pedestrians on your bicycle just isn’t enough of a challenge for you anymore? Perhaps you need to prepare for an urban assault.

An Urban Assault Ride, that is…

Since 2003, the Urban Assault Ride has been sending teams of riders through city streets and over/around/through some funky and challenging obstacles. The choice of route and the order of checkpoints to pass through is up to you, with the goal being to get through all of the checkpoints with the fastest time.

The obstacles are a mix of both physical and mental challenges, usually taking no longer than 5 minutes to complete, but can consist of a number of wacky things. Racers can always opt out of individual obstacles, with a time penalty added in its place.

“Obstacle challenges have included: adult big wheels, bike jousting, mini bikes, BMX peg rides, inflatable slip N slides, roller coasters, bouncy balls, kayaking, bike limbo, paperboy, puzzles, paint ball, or whatever else tickles our fancy.” – UAR

Assuming you and your partner can make it through all of the challenges and checkpoints, the afterparty is “a massive celebration of bikes and beer”, and a huge raffle contest on top of that, including the chance to win one of the coveted Limited Edition New Belgium bikes.

“It’s a blast for buddies, couples, families, triathletes, runners, craft beer drinkers, mustache lovers, good music afficiandos, and people looking to experience one helluva celebration of BEER, BIKES, and BIG WHEELS!” – UAR
