Talk about being at the right place at the right time. In this YouTube video uploaded by mhmtika050 and brought to our attention by The Goat, one very, very lucky ice climber encounters a couple of on-lookers along edge of a snow and ice-covered mountain.
They watch him struggle to ascend the melting ice with his crampons and ice picks — sans ropes — but offer to give him a line just in case. The climber ties in in the nick of time, as you’ll see in this suspenseful video: (Wait for it… wait for it…)
Consider it a lesson learned: when ice climbing, always remember to tie into a safety rope — especially when water is flowing. Also, never underestimate the kindness of strangers.
