Celebrating Speed through Competitive Longboard Races (Video)

Goldendale, Washington set the stage last week at the 6th annual Maryhill Festival of Speed, a premiere festival — or competition, really — of the top street lugers and downhill skaters in the world. Specifically speaking, said stage is the closed course along 2.2 miles of Maryhill Loops Rd., a curvaceous downhill paved road which provides for a thrilling ride, especially when you’re gunning down the 22 curves with the power of gravity at up to 45 miles per hour.

As you can see, the event is produced much like an Olympic event, which will have to tie longboard enthusiasts over until the real Olympics fully embraces skateboarding at the Summer Games.
