In celebration of their 35th anniversary, the folks at Outside magazine are giving away a $10,000 grant to one lucky adventurer most worthy of it. The catch? Your adventure will be have to be featured in an upcoming issue. Not too shabby of a catch, huh?
To apply for this monetary endowment, fill out the application on their website, with a proposal of what you choose your adventure to be. Obviously they’re looking for stories tuned to their brand of rugged outdoorsy escapades; they’re looking for buzz-worthy exploits like “sailing a homemade raft down the Hudson River,” “walking a perfectly straight line across Canada’s Prince Edward Island,” or “paddling a canoe from Portland, Oregon to Portland, Maine.”
If you think you’ve got what it takes, send essays no longer than 500 words — plus a couple of photos and/or videos of your proposed adventure — along with the application. Editors will pick finalists based on the ambition, creativity, and feasibility of the proposal. Submissions are due May 18th.
Good luck!
